Issue 002

The scorecard is now a spreadsheet, and it's yours

July 11, 2026 · AI Use Cases · 1 min read

Last issue I gave you the AI Use Case Scorecard: ten criteria, weighted, score your candidate workflows and let the math pick your first AI project. Since then, two upgrades. Both are free, and both are for you.

First: the scorecard is now a spreadsheet. New subscribers get it in their welcome email, which means you, the people who were here first, never did. Fixing that today:

Download the AI Use Case Scorecard spreadsheet

The weights are wired in, one column per workflow. Open it in Excel or import it into Google Sheets, score your candidates 1 to 5, and the ranking builds itself. No formula wrangling.

Second: the blank-page problem is solved. The hardest step of the scorecard was always step one, “list 5 to 10 candidate workflows.” If nothing comes to mind, you now have a cheat sheet: AI Automation Examples by Department, a new guide with worked examples across sales, operations, finance, and customer support. Each one shows the workflow before, the workflow after, and what it takes to get there.

The two are designed to be used together. Skim the guide, steal every example that sounds like your business, put each one in a spreadsheet column, and score honestly. Remember the rounding rule: gut-feel 3s are usually a 2.

Twenty minutes, and you’ll have a ranked AI roadmap instead of a wish list.

If you run your candidates through the spreadsheet, hit reply and tell me which department’s examples read most like your business. I read every reply.
